7th Graders Take on Climate Change

7th graders Design Experiments to Construct Meaning about Climate Change
7th graders did an initial experiment to test: what is the affect of a “greenhouse” on temperature? They used a mason jar testing temperature inside and outside the jar. Next, they brainstormed their own investigable questions about climate change, planned and conducted an experiment. Today, they walked out of the school to protest climate change – but before they walked out, they worked together on whiteboards to construct meaning for their experiments. Here are their whiteboards. What is next? Students will do a gallery walk and write critiques for each other. What are things they agree on? What are new questions they have generated together? What are suggestions for their future studies?
